Celebrating Success, Student Project
Written by Dr Cavey

We are proud to share that two of our Year 13 students, Livy and Yasemin, have won the Institute of Civil Engineering’s Silver Award in this year’s national CityZen competition. Hundreds of school teams from around the UK entered, but Livy and Yasemin’s excellent project impressed the judges with their imaginative safety solutions for roundabouts.

This year’s competition was particularly historic, with all three top prizes being won by all-girl teams from around the country for the first time ever. As part of their prize, our winning team were invited to the ICE’s winners’ lunch at their Westminster headquarters hosted by ICE’s senior vice-president, David Porter.

We are also very grateful for all the advice and guidance that our teams received from our industry mentor David Hampson-Ghani, who works as a Civil Engineer at Transport for London and visited the school weekly to support the project.

You can find out more about the CityZen Prize and see Livy and Yasemin’s winning project video here: https://www.ice.org.uk/.../ice-cityzen-award-winners-2024...

Congratulations to the team!
