The Year 7's lined up against a very good Maidstone Girls' Grammar side, both teams had worked incredibly hard to get to the semi-final. We were missing some key players due to injuries so we knew the game would not be easy. The game started with a tense atmosphere and Maidstone were pushing for the first opportunity, but Amelia C in the heart of the defence kept a cool head and defended expertly throughout the first half.

Midway through the first half Tia W fashioned an opportunity after some fantastic work down the right wing and managed to place the ball home at the near post, there was still a lot of work to be done and the team managed the game brilliantly. After some scrappy play in the middle of the pitch the ball went loose and Ruby D pushed forwards but was fouled. Tia W stood over the free kick and struck the ball into the top left corner, it was a fantastic free kick. Ruby D and Ramashka C worked tirelessly in midfield to prevent Maidstone gaining any momentum. Alicia J was a thorn in the side of Maidstone's defense as she chased everything down, her hard work led to another opportunity in which Tia W skipped past a few players and coolly placed the ball to the keepers right bottom corner, 3.0 at half time.

The second half began and the game was extremely tense but we responded really well to some of the Maidstone pressure. Josie M and Florence defended well throughout the game. There were minimal chances for both teams during the second half and we managed to see the game out for 3.0 win.

The final will take place on Saturday 9th March at Herne Bay Football Club. Kick off is at 5.00pm and entry is by ticket only.
