Our Sixth Form
Langton Girls’ Grammar is a mixed Sixth Form and represents the pinnacle of our students’ achievements.
A long-standing pillar of the community, we have a history of academic excellence and a tradition of sending our students to the best colleges, institutes and universities worldwide.
Our school motto, "Meliora Sequamur" (let's aim for better things) underlines our 800 year-old tradition of commitment to excellence and our belief that we are lifted up and borne aloft by the understanding gained by those who have gone before us.
Make the most of your two years:
Your two years with us at Langton Girls’ Grammar will be a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable experience that offers you greater independence and should provide two of the most satisfying years of your education, as you study subjects that interest and inspire you.
Small classes enable you to discuss and debate issues with greater freedom where you will be taught by the most knowledgeable and passionate subject experts who will give you the best foundation for the next exciting stage of your life.
Those who stay at Langton Girls’ Grammar see their lives change as they receive more individual attention, increased privileges and develop their intellectual independence.
The young men and women who join Langton Girls’ Grammar are given an induction which includes being part of our ‘’Langton pods’’, joining one of our houses and mixing with Sixth Formers at our social events.
Beyond the classroom, time is set aside, each week, for you to take part in our extensive and innovative programmes with countless opportunities to have fun, make new friends, discover new passions and explore your interests.
Ready for a challenging future:
A Langton Curriculum means that students study 3 or 4 A Level subjects, an EPQ and take part in the Langton Extended Curriculum.
Our award winning research projects, IVE lecture series, elective programmes and careers programme enrich our students’ learning in school and develops those skills that are required by graduates and in the contemporary workplace.
Students can enrol on to our four specialist centres of excellence; the Mind Lab@SLGGS, the Langton Language Centre, the Sport England Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and Langton Music School.
The onus we place on trips to destinations all over the globe or as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award develops students’ transferrable skills; our ‘’Langton Values’’.
University and beyond:
Langton Girls’ Grammar holds the Investors in Careers quality award and is identified as ‘’the leading school in Britain for the quality of its careers programme’’ (The Key for School Leaders).
One of only three schools in the country to achieve all of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks (State of the Nation report), our careers programme ensures that students ‘’have their education or training futures organised’’ where ‘’comprehensive support for university applications is a strength’’ (Ofsted).
Our devotion to our ‘’Langton Values’’ means students take on leadership and managerial responsibilities and play a leading role in the wide range of societies, publications and projects at Langton Girls’ Grammar; critical to employers and prized by FE institutions.
All Langton students benefit from the exceptional level of care that we provide. Our Sixth Form Pastoral Manager, tutor team and our well-being team work with our teaching staff to provide day-to-day support, whilst ensuring that specialist support is there if needed.
Our dedicated SEN Learning Base ensures that all students are supported to fulfill their potential, embodying our personalised approach to every student and the Assistant Head of Sixth Form offers individualised support for students to encourage students to make the jump from GCSE.
Our Sixth Form students themselves, whose maturity enables them to play a key role in supporting those in the lower school, act as form guardians, peer and subject mentors.
