Trips

We work hard to offer pupils a range of diverse and exciting trips and visits at SLGGS. As you can imagine the preparation for and administration of such ventures is very time consuming and we would ask for pupil and parent cooperation in making this process as smooth as possible. Pupils should be aware that all trip money and consent forms should be placed in a named envelope, stating the trip concerned, in the relevant post box at front reception for the attention of Mrs Thurgood. A receipt for this payment will have been written within 48 hours and pupils should also collect these from reception as necessary. Please ensure that you return consent forms and payment as soon as possible. These will not be accepted on the day of the trip itself.
We do everything we can to keep the cost of trips to a minimum. There is always the opportunity to pay for more expensive visits in instalments and, in case of financial difficulty, some money may be available to help fund trips for individual students.
You can rest assured that trips are always run with safety in mind and adhere to a maximum staff to pupil ratio of 1:15 for day visits and 1:10 for residential trips. Accompanying staff are made aware of any medical conditions which might affect individual participating students and a risk assessment is completed for every out of school activity. Staff on residential visits have a named Leadership Group contact (such as the Headteacher or Deputy Head) who can be liaised with on a 24 hour basis should the necessity arise. Any residential trips, or day visits which involve adventurous activities, have to be approved by KCC in order to take place. We are also required to notify KCC of any out of County day visits.
