Open Spot Spoken Word Event for Years 7, 8 & 9

Date posted:Thursday 19th July 2012
An exciting evening was had by all on Thursday 12 July when brave lower school students took to the stage for a brand new evening of entirely pupil generated material.
The first half of the evening was the open spot; a platform for pupils to read poems, monologues or short extracts which they had written themselves. We heard funny, gruesome and emotive pieces as well as some re-workings of original poems by authors such as Robert Browning.
The second half saw the debut performance of S.L.G.G.S’ first improvised comedy team “Winging it”. A variety of games as well as audience suggestions inspired hilarious scenes made up on the spot by the brave performers.
If you would like to try out anything you have written in front of an appreciative audience, Open spot continues in September on Tuesdays from 4-5. And if you would like join in with our improvisation team “Winging it” workshops take place every Tuesday lunchtime at 1.00 in the drama studio.
Both events are co-ordinated and lead by Miss Fennell
