KCC Music Bursary Scheme 2011-12

Date posted:Monday 18th July 2011

The Kent County Council Music Bursary scheme exists to make awards to school musicians in need of financial support. Anyone who fits the criteria below is eligible to apply for support with your child's individual music lessons/group tuition/membership of county courses. Eligibility criteria:

Parents or carers who are in receipt of any of the following:
  • Income support
  • Working tax credit
  • Incapacity benefit
  • State retirement pension when pension credit is awarded
  • Children eligible for free school meals (FSM)
Application forms are available by contacting Julie Baker on 01732 876626 or by e-mailing Julie.Baker@kent.gov.uk.  Please note that funds are limited, and there is no guarantee that your application will be successful: once the limit is reached, no further applications can be considered.

If you are applying for support with individual music lessons, you should indicate that your reason for requiring individual lessons is because your child has outgrown group tuition, that the lessons will be provided by a licensed music teacher and that they will be either 20 or 30 minutes at an average cost of £140 per term of ten lessons.
