After an incredible run in their very first season, the U16s lost in their Kent Cup semi-final on Saturday morning. Playing Highworth, the current holders of the trophy, the girls fought for 70mins, but found it very tough going against a well drilled and much more experienced team. After the awful conditions of our quarterfinal, the rain and cold on Saturday was almost pleasant! As always, the girls’ attitude was fantastic; their effort did not drop for the entire game despite conceding a few goals. Special mention must go to Gaby Alankiewicz in goal, who made a series of wonderful saves; Amy and Rosie Walsh in the centre of defence for their strength, tough tackling and determination, and Ella Wilson-Sharp for her tireless running at the strong Highworth defence. This season has been a very steep learning curve, with most of the squad having never played football before, and we’ve exceeded all our expectation in year one. Training will continue, and friendlies will be played, as our minds already turn to next season!  Well done girls, there’s always next season!  Mr Pollard
